Quite simply the best fish and chips I've EVER had! The catch all their fish locally and prepare it in store, so you know you're getting great quality local produce. They make their own potato cakes, which are amazing, so you have to try them!!Service was good, not the best value for money, but I honestly think it's worth it, you can taste the difference! If you're in Devonport you have to try Strait Off The Boat.
Good variety of choice of fresh seafood that has come straight off the boat - this place is hidden up a back street out of the town centre so the parking is easy - also frequented by locals who are constantly coming and going - always a good sign of good food - particularly in Tasmania. Great little surprise - simple tables and chairs available if you want to eat in.
Lovely fresh fish. Moderate portions, but great quality. We really liked the crumbed scallop pack (left) and felt that the fish was nicest grilled, as it let the flavour shine.
We arrived in Davenport looking for the best fish and chips and we found them. Service was great, the fish was fresh, the workers were friendly and happy, not to mention their portion sizes are more than enough to feed a person for a few days. I'm from Portland, Oregon, but if I ever return to Devonport I'll be sure to stop by Straight off the Boat again.
Innovative sweet and sour scallop rice! Scallops were fresh and delicious! We've ordered grilled gummy which tasted very fresh too! Nice service from staff! Simple and quick lunch before our journey!
